I took a few minutes to review various online resources about upgrading
from WinXP to Win7, and basically they are still saying what I already knew,
which is that the machine hardware itself might not work with Win7. Even
Microsoft states this. That was a bit of a problem with this all along, and
going through the effort of repairing that Win7 hard drive might be a waste of
time as there were some compatibility problems that I had to deal with earlier.
Maybe that's why it self-destructed.
No, I am NOT going to try Linux again. That was a total disaster.
I have no choice but to keep my WinXP machines working as later operating
systems will not run my engineering and publishing software. The only reason
why I need a Win7 machine is for internet access.
