Won't help. This was originally a WinXP machine, and if there was any
Win7 installation information it would be on the failed hard drive.
The only fix I can imagine is to wipe that drive and borrow a full install
disk from someone. I'm going to ask around to see if anyone has one. If there
was such a thing as a WinXP to Win7 upgrade, that would be useful. But my
understanding is that Win7 is a raw, full instsallation only.
In the meantime, a good portion of my internet usage will be in intensive
care. Fortunately, the items on eBay that I'm in need of are all buy-it-now,
so maybe I can do that at the coffee shop.
