Yeah, I may have to yield to that, but before I do so I need to do
something about this operating system problem. Getting DSL won't do a thing
for me if the WinXP remains a speed bump.
Why don't they just make a Win7-to-WinXP emulator?
But they do. MS saw the problem with Vista and made a bulletproof solution for 7. It's been mentioned/discussed here
more than once; more than once by me. Win7 Pro has a free download of an XP virtual machine that is is perfect for my needs.
It runs a software development app I use that quit running under Windoze after XP. It looks like, sounds like, smells
like, feels like, tastes like an actual XP machine. Well, it is XP. I don't know about connectivity to the outside
world, I flop over to Win7 for all that, and would just as soon that the XPVM be isolated.
$ to dust bunnies, your old apps will run fine under it.
Listen to these folks, they make sense:

Well, there is a difference between being penny-wise and pound-foolish. :)

I¹m almost certainly the poorest person on this list, and I have Fiber to

life hard on yourself.
I suppose parsimony may be it's own reward, but the reward for the kind you are
practicing is more like self-flagellation.
Every time you complain about eBay, I open a window, try it and it is fine. I believe you are making your own problems
there, too.
