O.K.
I was trying to work out a way to distribute my equipment into
the right amount of Pelican cases. Rather than group by type
of equipment, I tried grouping on probability of use.
#1 - LowePro Omni Sport. This is a Pelican 1400 with a padded
LowePro bag inside it. You can ditch the hard case, sling the
bag over your shoulder, and hit the trail. This is my behind-
the-seat-going-places bag, when I want to cary more than the
Minox. Contents: OM-2(usually SP for the Recordata Back 4)
w/35-105 Zuiko mounted, 24-40 Tokina, and 50 f/3.5 (or 50 1.4),
T-32, 49/55/72mm filters, coiled TTL cable, batteries, cable
release, 4-5 rolls of film, etc.
#2 - Pelican 1500. Contents: OM-2, Winder 2, T-20, 80-200
f/2.8 Tokina, 50 f/1.4 (or 50 f/3.5), 100 f/2, 200 f/4, 17mm
f/3.5 Tokina, Honeywell Digital Spot Meter, Minolta AutoMeter
III, etc.
#3 - Pelican 1520. Contents: 150-500 Tokina, Zuiko 1.4x and
2x converters, 24 f/2.8, 65-200 f/4, Bounce Grip 2, Wein 500
flash meter, T-32 w ND/Wide filters & tele lens, several TTL
cables, etc.
Bogen Tripod has own case and uses fluid head or mini geared
head.
Having gone through one hurricane ("Gee! I never noticed that
skylight and open beam ceiling in the bedroom before.") and
now living on the southern end of the Cascadia Subduction Zone
(CSZ to those who are "in".), I support the purchase and use
of cases that are really waterproof ("Wow! Who would ever
thought that one little busted pipe in the attic could dump
all that water.") I even have a Pelican 1450 waiting in the
wings for my next brainstorm.
