I actually did some informal testing on all three 35-70mm Zuikos. Although
all three were very close, my final ranking was: #1 -- 35-70/f3.6, #2 --
35-70/f3.5-4.5, and #3 -- 35-70/f4. Moreover, #2 and #3 were much closer to
each other than both were to #1. >>
My 85 mm f/2.0 Zuiko is ready for hazing, but not me! Unfortunately I've had
my nose buried for four years in over a million message boards postings re: PC
application tech support, so I've missed all this knowledge flowing here. I
regret it since Oly knowledge is useful, but who cares that you once knew a
lot about some legacy PC application, like Quattro Pro for DOS.
Well, at least I'm inching up in the world (from a F/4.0). Good thing you
didn't test the F/2.8 or I'd really feel like I'm traveling in Steerage Class.
I usually switch from the zoom to a fixed focus if the shot is worth it and
the focal length right, so no problem.
Rained in by El Nino? Yikes, get out and find a waterfall. I'm doing a rain
dance here in Las Vegas hoping it'll cause a spring bloom and make for great
shooting.
