Nice image but indeed a tad soft. The pup demands more MTF. I wonder if you have a lemon or just require a different PP protocol with this lens. In general Oly has said it avoid designs that are very sensitive to small perturbations in manufacturing as to enhance QA and decrease bad apples--it is cheaper to discard a lens than adjust it. It appears Sigie now allows for small adjustments during manufacturing and measures MTF in each lens in the Art series---as best can be judged by Roger's comments at Lens Rentals. Finally. Click on MTF and directly compare the 12-100 to 12-200. At longer FL even the lower freq information starts to degrade in the 12-200 resulting in lower contrast. It also has a bunch of off axis astigmatism. The 12-100 is not a perfect lens for macro, but doubt you would fault its sharpness. https://asia.olympus-imaging.com/product/dslr/mlens/12-100_4ispro/spec.html https://asia.olympus-imaging.com/product/dslr/mlens/12-200_35-63/spec.html Mike -- _________________________________________________________________ Options: http://lists.thomasclausen.net/mailman/listinfo/olympus Archives: http://lists.thomasclausen.net/mailman/private/olympus/ Themed Olympus Photo Exhibition: http://www.tope.nl/ |
