For me just the opposite. When I got my first digital camera, I immediately got
a card reader, as a matter of convenience. I just left the reader hooked to my
computer and life was and still is good. And I don't trust wireless for
downloads.

I use the cable all the time as it's more convenient. What I would REALLY like
to see would be a bluetooth adapter for the camera, which would be even more
