I have always been nervous about connecting a camera directly to a computer and
have never done it. When I had cameras with CF cards, I had a card reader. Now,
with SD cards, my laptop has a built-in slot, and for my desktop computer I use
a Sandisk reader that is permently plugged into the USB slot on the side of my
keyboard. Price = 0, it came with an SD card I bought some years ago.
