Yes, I think we've dodged the bullet but not the rain. The hurricane is
still in the Bahamas and nowhere near South Carolina but we're still
having very heavy rain from another system that's running up the coast
ahead of the hurricane.
The highest official rainfall amount I heard on the news this morning
was 4.5". However when I checked my rain guage at 7:20 this morning it
had already overflowed at 6" sometime during the night. I probably
forgot to empty it after the last rain. The forecast calls for it to
taper off until afternoon and then start up again with renewed vigor.

The NHC forecast posted a little over a half hour ago now has Joaquin

The latest NHC forecast, just posted minutes ago, is holding steady on
Joaquin passing just east of Cape Cod. So, you may well be spared the Biblical
deluge.

Well, we have had a severe drought all summer and I have had to spend hours
and hours watering the garden and fruit trees; but, with a drought you can
add water as long as the well holds out. With the amount of rain we are
predicted to get, everything will wash away and there 's nothing you can do
about it!!

I don't suppose that Tina is very excited about the possibility of
Joaquin turning to the west and inundating North Carolina.

WOW - Sitting here in one of the target zones (Chesapeake Bay) is not good
feeling... to coin a phrase. 😇
