I have Manfrotto heads 3030 and 486 RC2. They use the same QR plates. I have enough plates for each of my bodies. You will not find me holding a camera (of mine) that does not have the QR plate on it. The utility of the quick mount and release is worth every cent to me. I use the same system for OM bodies, 645 and even video cameras. The convenience pays off because I am far more likely to use a tripod that I can snap on than fight with the threading. That's the way I look at it. Moving the plate from body to body was a non starter in my opinion.
