who found out today that, according to Photodo, the 28mm lens EOS f/2.8 is
sharper at every aperture than the premium priced f/1.8.
It really surprised me that the 2.8 is sharper wide open than the 1.8
stopped down to f2.8.
It shouldn't be surprising. In most cases, because the optical design has
to be compromised to make the larger wide open aperture, the wider aperture
lens will generally lose until further stopping down. The extreme case is
the Le$ca 50/F1 Noctilux where it loses in every aperture to the Summicron
50/2 except at below F2 :-)
