They usually don't "test" well either.

who found out today that, according to Photodo, the 28mm lens EOS f/2.8 is
sharper at every aperture than the premium priced f/1.8.
It really surprised me that the 2.8 is sharper wide open than the 1.8 stopped
down to f2.8.
