Hi Giles,
I remember David Hemingway, when he was with Polaroid marketing, talking
about a software solution for dust and scratches on Tony Sleep's
filmscanner list a couple of years ago. Have you tried it? If so, what do
you think of it?

Have you noticed Polaroid have dust and scratch removal software available
for download from their web site?
When you install it, you have the option of using it as a photoshop plug
in or as a stand alone application.
There are various controls you can set and tweak to make it behave.

I take you at your word, but I don't have a thousand twenty-year old
negatives and I don't have to scan for anyone but myself. If someone I
know is looking for a new scanner, I'll now have to tell them that many
people I respect say ICE is indispensable. :)
