I while back I had puchased a used Nikon Coolscan II from a
fellow list member who just made some noise about how ICE is
unnecessary in his world. Not flaming anybody, but...
I spend WAY too much time spotting pictures and correcting
scratches, dust, fingerprints and who knows what else. It's the
joys of the business, I guess. I personally wouldn't get
another scanner that didn't have some form of
dust/scratch-correction mechanism.
Also, I wouldn't think of getting a scanner under the 4000dpi
threshold. It's too bad that 8000dpi isn't affordable. Roll
film auto scanning or slide-stack scanning is also high on my
list. Of course, being able to scan 4x5 trannies would be
nice...
