My experience with Windows environment: 1. NikonScan has same speed when standalone and Photoshop plugin. 3. My old Nikon LS-10 on Window 3.1 easily crash after over ten scans. The NikonScan 2.5 and 3.1 never crash for using over three years (with Win 95 and Win ME). But I cannot boot up with LS4000 turn on, have to power up the scanner after Window logon.
