I just keep my feet about 18" / 50 cm apart and the monopod with the foot
slightly forward, about 6" / 15cm. Then I shuffle sideways around it as
necessary to keep the camera pointed at the action.
If there's a seat or bar ahead, I often push the 'pod against it, unless
it's vibrating with the crowd.
