This needs a bit more clarification, I suspect.
A good reversing ring will have a metal tab that moves the aperture
coupling ring in the camera body to the position it would occupy with a
lens fitted. I this case, the TTL metering system will indicate
exposure for the lens as-it-is. So you have to have the d-o-f preview
fully depressed to take your meter readings as well as for the exposure
itself (or calculate from the full-aperture reading).
I believe (ie I could be wrong) there are some reversing rings out there
which don't have the metal tab referred to above - these will no allow a
TTL metering system to give a meaningful reading.
