Dear Kris:
About those leader retriever gadgets--the old newspaper photog's
trick was spit (saliva).
If you've rewound the film completely and you need to retrieve the
leader but you don't have the little tool, etc.
Just get another roll of film that has a leader and moisten the
leader on the emulsion side (saliva works best) then slip the
now sticky leader into the completely rewound film cassette
several inches. Now roll the film spool further back by rotating
it twixt thumb and forefinger, until the rewound film "grabs" the
new films leader. You should be able to draw the rewound leader
out of the cassette.
It may take some practice but once you know this trick it may
come in handy, especially with those new fangled auto-rewind cameras!
> : feedback and ideas? I would probably want to buy one of those gadgets
