You have just discovered one of the great things about using an
'old-fashioned' manual camera <g>.
You don't want to rewind the film all the way into the cassette, though.
Then you wont have a need for that tool, which is a PITA anyway. If you
practice, you will feel the pull that occurs when the film leaves the
takeup spool. No need to keep rewinding after that. I simply take out the
film and write the number of exposures on the leader. Works great!
