Due to various constraints, and also mental issues, I did not take any
legacy lenses on this trip. I didn't even take the lovely little Sony
24/2.8 G, which is one seriously fun little lens. Convenience over
art. But three weeks ago I was actually debating whether or not to
take ANY camera with me. That's how far gone I was. But it is
certainly true that the Sony FF bodies and legacy OM Zuikos are made
for each other. I love love love how those jewels work on the Sony.
However, it is staggering how much lens technology has advanced and
changed. These new lenses have no fringing, no CA, no nothing. While
they need a ton of distortion correction, corner shading, etc., they
need little to no adjustment in this regard. I thought that it was
Lightroom getting in the way and masking everything, but I did dive
under the hood a bit and these lenses really are that good in this
regard.
I can just shoot them and not worry about things. But when I want to
get artsy and all analog, the OM Zuikos fit the bill for me. And
nothing quite gives the 3D look like the OMZ 300/4.5.
