When I spoke with Eric, he mentioned taxiing P-51s, before he entered
the RAF, but I couldn't put it in context. But, from the video, it
would seem that, as a teenager, he worked in a factory where the P-51s
were assembled after they arrived in England. He is a great
storyteller, and enjoys doing it.

That was very interesting indeed. I can’t place his accent, but it’s probably
Leicestershire, Lincolnshire or Nottinghamshire. What a lovely chap!
My father, who died in 1982, would have been about the same age; he joined the
RAF to be a pilot, but got no further than the initial training. He was then
sent to be a driver in Germany.

I just finished watching the interview with Eric. It was the best half-hour I
have spent in a long time. His voice hasn't changed at all since that
interview. And, the sense of humor is still intact. I knew a little of the
background, but that video brought me up to date.
Thanks for brightening my evening!
Ever since I have known him, he has carried a parakeet wherever he goes. I
assume the earlier one passed away, because he said the present one is about 1
1/2 years old.
