That was very interesting indeed. I can’t place his accent, but it’s probably
Leicestershire, Lincolnshire or Nottinghamshire. What a lovely chap!
My father, who died in 1982, would have been about the same age; he joined the
RAF to be a pilot, but got no further than the initial training. He was then
sent to be a driver in Germany.
