Thanks for that. I remember now reading that about 5:00am. I guess I
didn't even remember what it was about at the time as I didn't discover
my own Lightroom CC problem until much later.
I resurrected your nicely detailed script, ran through it very carefully
but have to report "no joy". I get exactly the same result as before.
Tells me it has to create a new format library, appears to do so and
then immediately crashes. Hmmm. Maybe what crashed it is that I never
created a library before.
I guess I'll have to get on the horn with Adobe. No joy

suggested and then retried Lightroom. No change in Lightroom behavior at
all. Nada.
Checking the Adobe website I see the same answer given there and many people
agreeing it solved their problem. But some (like me) say no and on says
worked at first and then the same problem returned.
I can't figure out how to use the Adobe help system and am not much inclined
to do so for the sake of Lightroom. Anyone know any more secret
incantations?
