I hadn't used the history brush in about 8 years so I had to brush up on it a bit. I worked on a scan of an old color negative of my wife that I had scanned into a positive long before I had a scanner with infrared channel. I had already spotted the big stuff but the image was covered with numerous tiny spots that looked like gold flecks. I'm happy to report that it worked like a charm. All the tiny gold flecks are gone and there's no significant loss of any detail.

The D&S trick recommended by David works even better than Polaroids D&S
software. PSCC's D&S filter combined with the history brush in darken mode
is perfect for the white spots on B&W negatives.

It takes longer than Polaroid's filter, but the results are much better.

Hope this helps somebody else!

PESO:

I'm scanning some old B&W negatives and I have always used Polaroid Dust
and Scratch Remover for those impossible white specks and scratches that
show up all over my old negatives. It did a pretty good job with some
artifacts that could be brushed out. But it only works with 32 bit PS so
it doesn't work with PSCC. I had kept an old copy of 32 bit PS just to use
that one program but I was trying to free up some space on my laptop and I
got rid of it.

So my question is: Is there anything similar to the Polaroid D&S that
will work with 64 bit? What is the best dust and scratch remover around?

TIA

Tina
