The best dust and scratch remover is hardware and not software... scanners that employ a 4th color channel using

I think it's not the scanners, but the software. Both VueScan and that other product that Tina wrestled with for so
long, the name of which escapes me, have claimed recently a much improved processing of Kodachrome.
The problem with software dust and scratch removal is that the software has no way of determining whether what looks
like a scratch or speck is actually a a small bit of important detail. The software tends to soften the image as well
as reducing the dust and scratches.
I think Tina knows all this. As I recall, she applies PD&S to a layer, then paints it in or out, to clear up sky, etc.
without blurring important detail. Something like that at least. Not a bad solution to a difficult problem.
What she is asking for is a lead to something as good or better than the long abandoned Polaroid software that will run
64 bit.
