I generally do not like UV filters either. However, I must admit that I have
put one on my 23mm Fuji X lens because the hood that came with it is so
grotesquely large that I refuse to use it. Instead, I bought a good B+W filter
to protect the lens against scratches if rubbing against something--a much more
likely event than an impact that shatters the filter.
