It took me a while and a nearly missed ferry (Poole-St Malo on the Australian
SuperCat) to work out that if you're in a hurry, you take the motorway, even
if it's quite a bit out of the way.
Coventry as the crow flies to Poole - 4 hours. Going (almost) into London and
then beck out west again - 2.5 hours! Much further, much quicker. (And before
someone mentions it - then I discovered the A38(?)was a good road and took
another 30mins off that.
