I have driven in England and Wales several times, both with my own cars (Dutch
and now Spanish license plates) and in rented UK cars. I found it particularly
nice to be in a continental car--people naturally assumed that I was not used
to driving on the left, looking the other way in roundabouts etc., so they
would give me extra space.
In rented cars this factor was obviously not at play, but still once I got past
the challenge of shifting gears with my left hand, driving was a pleasure. Some
of the narrow village roads were, shall we say, interesting, but no more so
than similar roads on the Continent.
Cheers,
Nathan
