In his unrelenting hatred (bordering on mental illness) of religion, I
think that Dawkins has missed the entire premise and likelihood of the
"Creation Story". He has obviously missed the father/child
communications factor. It goes something like this:
Here is the conversation I'm imagining happened the day after God created Adam.
Adam: God? Where did this all come from?"
God: "Adam, 15 billion years ago, I caused a tiny spark to occur which
we'll call the 'Big Bang'. Particles of hydrogen..."
Adam: "God? What's a year?"
God: "It's the length of time it takes for the earth to rotate around the sun."
Adam: "What's the earth?
God: "Stick with me here, Adam. The earth is a round planet on which
you are standing."
Adam: "But it's flat."
God: "It only looks flat because it's so large. ANYWAY, so these
hydrogen particles start to combine thanks to gravity..."
Adam: "Gravity? Eve made gravity last night with mashed potatoes"
God: "Gravity is, well, these hydrogen molecules like each other and
want to be close to each other. OK?"
Adam: "Hydrogen?"
God: "Yes, hydrogen. It's a simple atom consisting of a nucleus and
one electron."
Adam: "I'm getting tired.'
God: "OK, let's start over. Last week there was nothing..."
