THAT's part of the corporate plot, as well: "charter schools."
These public parasites are paid tax dollars to teach school, at a profit.
My fool 82-year-old Dad volunteers at a charter school several days a week.
Besides his volunteer labour, they hire non-union teachers who do not have the
extra year of college that public school teachers are required to have. The
principal takes home about twice as much as the public school principal. And
the parents volunteer, too, and have bake sales to furnish classrooms. Plus
there's no busses -- you should see the traffic jam as all the parents swing
through in their SUVs. (Oops. I've touched the "third rail" of the OM list.
Walt, forgive me.)
Talk about corporate welfare! When was the last time you held a bake sale to
spare a corporation a legitimate business expense?
But they're doing it in the name of "efficiency," because public schools have
"failed."
Boy, I wanna buy stock in National Heritage Academies. They've got this fascist
thing all figured out! Soon, there won't be any public schools, then some round
of tax-cutting will stop their funding, then only the wealthy will get educated.
