Canon is trying hard to fix its tarnished reputation there. The 16-35/2.8 L Mk II is a fine lens. The much older 17-40/4 has always been a good lens. But there haven't been any new primes except new 17 and 24mm tilt/shift lenses which are also reported to be very good. But that's from someone who prefers to own used Tokina and Tamron glass in EOS mount. It's much cheaper.
