I'm only happy with the E-1 because I have other options. Between the
OM system and now the DMC-L1, I have a fighting chance of actually
fulfilling certain requirements which the E-1 totally stinks at. What
the E-1 does well, it does VERY well. An argument can be made that the
E-1 is actually still superior in a couple areas to the E-5. I didn't
buy the E-3 for very specific reasons and the E-5 still suffers those
same reasons.
You can tell Olympus punted on this one. They fixed a couple of items
with the E-30, but promptly regurgitated the same-old-same-old of the
E-3 on the E-5. Stunning!
We've talked about going to Canon for over ten years now and it's
finally getting time. Will it be 2020? Doubtful that it will be THAT
long. I have two FourThirds cameras and one FourThirds lens. I'll get
rid of both and get the 5Dmk3 when the time comes. A second-hand 7D
would address the backup issues for a while. Time frame? Not before
the 5Dmk3. When I jump, it will be to the latest/greatest. Of course,
all this is budget permitting.
I'd really like to go Leica, but that doesn't even seem remotely
possible for several reasons.
