Hi Fernando,
I have considered storing the slides in projector slide-racks - I use a
straight rack not a carousel projector - but also ruled that our on the grounds
of cost and space requirements.
No fungal attacks so far but I don't want to push my luck too far.

No, I cannot - but your question reminded me of an old question posed
in this list on whether to keep slides in Carousel trails, or into
plastic / cardboard boxes - in which of these were them more prone /
more immune to suffer fungi attack. On this, yes I can tell some
personal experience.
Scanning wouldn't be my answer to your question, though I frequently
scan a frame I feel is worthwhile the effort to preserve it a little
longer from disappearing.
