Every year my village of Round Pond holds a Fourth of July parade.
There is no organization, no one really in charge, and no limits save
taste on entries. In the past few years, however, since an article in
Down East magazine and a huge feature two years ago in the New York
Times, many more people have flooded our little village on the Fourth,
and now, while anarchy continues to more or less reign, we do get a
lot of "no parking this side" signs and the local sheriff's department
sends down a few deputies. Still and all, it's quite a day.

The home page picture is from the parade, and there's a whole page
dedicated to photos. This is not my usual cuppa, and the sun actually
showed itself for the first time in more than a month about twenty
minutes before the parade started. Gonna have to get me a fancy fill
flash, for sure.
