I have the 2080 LX3. It's an older Meade Schmidt-Cassegrain with an
eight inch diameter primary mirror. I believe it was the only one made
with the "Lifetime Warranty" and it saved my behind when the silver
flaked off the secondary mirror 10 years after it was purchased. I got a
whole new set of optics because of it... primary mirror, secondary
mirror and front correction plate. :)
In the past, I did photography using an OM-1 and an off-axis guider or
T-mount connected to the Meade. The lunar eclipse in this article:

was taken with the OM-1 coupled to the Meade using the T-mount.
Deep sky work was quite a challenge with f11 optics... 1 hour exposures
were not uncommon. Imagine for that hour having your eye fixed to an
eyepiece with cross-hairs, making small corrections in drive speed and
declination to keep a faint guide star centered... ooo what fun. ;)
