I think it'll take a LONG time.  There is a clear plastic membrane
suspended in-front of the sensor itself.  When cleaning it, you can
feel it push in.

I've been using swiffers on a multitude of plastic things and there
has been no problems, so I think I'm going to be safe here.  It's not
like I have to clean it every day, you know.
