It was the idea of something based on the principle of a stylus in a
groove that could produce a semi-decent image and stereo sound that
really appealed to me. The Electronics Engineer in me was, and still
is, fascinated. Bought one, took it into work (TV Studio) and all the
engineers were fascinated. We spent hours taking it apart and figuring
it out, instead of working ! Even now, in the age of DVD, people are
amazed at what can be achieved from what is essentially a 12-inch piece
of vinyl.

Technics (Panasonic) unit that worked last time I used it? I'd like it

Thanks for the kind offer, but being on the other side of a large body
of water from you may make it impractical. :-( That and the argument
this evening which went something like "there'd better not be any more
Audio Gear coming into this house until you've finished fitting the
bathroom". I guess she found the Linn !! Ooops. Still, I can't blame
the Bay for that one - I inherited it.
