The LED (flash ready) line is used not only to indicate to the user that flash
is ready, but also to signal if a quench took place or not (i.e. under exp).
The current levels through that pin and the sequence of LED flashes tells the
camera what happend. A small current always flows through the pin telling the
camera a flash is present even if it is not ready. A higher current flows
lighting the LED if flkash is ready. Current to the pin is always interupted at
flash time followed by pulsing from low to high level if quench occurred. See
the OM2N service manual for best description and details. Some third part
flashes implement this better than others.
