The auto sensor is older technology and more universal. I find that it
works just as well as TTL flash with a single direct flash, and certainly
with print film the differences would be impossible to discern. I use TTL
flash mainly because I like to bounce and/or use doodads or multiple
flashes and vary the exp comp dial. That's the beauty of TTL flash.

I think your assumption would be correct for everything except an OM-2S[P]
with the old wiring.
