Ironic is the word Tom, but you were quite sensitive to what I regarded
as good-natured banter (or honest opinion) in the first responses to
your "confession" ... ;-)
As you say, self-discipline is the key (and I promise to improve). We
should be able to continue to express our (clearly-labelled) opinions
without appearing to impose them on others. Phrases such as "you may
disagree with me when I say..." or "I admire your courage in using
unconventional compositional methods ..." or " I am sorry that I did
not explain my point clearly enough ..."
... even not responding works as a way to defuse an otherwise explosive
situation.
With due deference to Lee, whose site helped me a great deal back in
1998, this List is a wonderful resource for the most part. And to try
to distil it down to the good bits alone (e.g. without Krispy Kremes or
what makes radioactive glass etc...) would be impossible in my view.
Therefore, to split off digital and OT posts would dilute the good
parts. I hope that this makes sense

That's the question, isn't it. I like it the way it is. I'd be happier

were a little more self-censoring when we go way off topic.
I did find it ironic that my clearly marked OT post about a competitive
digital camera resulted in abuse, including private emails, while 100+
posts
on Krispy Kremes were OK.
