Agreed. I certainly don't wish to quibble over which bodies are 'pro'. I
was only pointing out for those who may not be familiar with Nik*n that
"nearly any Nikon lens with all bodies." is, from my position as an
owner of some old classic AIS and pre AIS lenses, a bit of an
overstatement. Recent lenses, high-end bodies, yup, old lenses, cheaper
bodies, nope. Remember the thread a bit ago where someone got all
excited about using MF lenses on the Nikon/Fuji bodies? When others got
on the excitment bandwagon, I did some research, only to find that it
simply won't work, except on the most expensive Nik*on digital body, as
camera exposure can't be set.
It is indeed nice that they never changed the physical mount, but
functional interchangeability is still nowhere near universal.

But that has always been the case. F100 is a $1800 Canadian $ camera that will
meter everything. Consider that you cannot get a pro DSLR for $1800.
You can use any lens, you just have to use manual mode. My point really was
that the Nikon mount has never changed while Canon's has, which screwed many
people.

Only true of the 'pro' bodies. The cheaper AF film and digital bodies
won't work with the older MF lenses.
