If it was be, I would want to get lenses that would work on ALL of a bidoes
systems. This means AF lenses, why restricy yourself if you have a budget.
I have a Nikon F60 that we use from time to time. I have not spent alot on
it, but have most of the ranges covered.
28-105 macro (half life size)
50mm 1.8
70-300ED
I really have no need for anything else and cost is under $1000 U.S. $600
Canadian for the 28-105, $175 for the 50, and about $300 for the 70-300,
works to about $1,100-$1,200 Canadian, or $784 U.S. Could even get a Macro
lens now.
If Manual or Primes are what is wanted, then I would get
28 2.8
50mm 1.8
105 f2.8 Macro
and the 70-300 zoom
this would fit any beginners usage.

Subject: [OM] Need help on my final!
Hi Zuiks:
A list member (John Lind?) once remarked that if we were rational people
we would all own a N*k*n and three lenses.
I am writing my "take-home" final for the photography class that I'm
taking at the University of Idaho. One question is to advise a young
person who currently owns no equipment, but is interested in gradually
acquiring a quality system over time. They have a current budget of
about $1,000, but it is also likely that they will receive additional
gear over time from friends and relatives for graduation, Christmas,
birthdays, etc.
Regretfully, I don't see how I could recommend Olympus, in this
scenario. So far, I have come up with a N*k*n FM (or FM2 or FM2n), the
50 mm f/1.8, and the 105 mm f/2.5.
Questions:
1. What would the "third lens" be?
2. How would you answer this question?
BTW, the instructor is a long-time N*k*n user.
Thanks!
Bill Stanke
