Answer to the first question would be a 28mm or preferably the Nikkor 24/2.8.
I have such a Nikon system, which consists of a FE2, 24/2.8, 35-105/3.5-4.5,
80-200/4, and a TC201 (doubler). I also have a 55/2.8 micro (sic) and an
ancient 85/1.8 with a hefty scratch on the rear element. That's more than
three lenses, but in hindsight I'd not get the 35-105 and go with just the 24,
55, and 80-200 if I were doing a Nikon system.
But I disagree about not recommending Olympus. People who like Nikon manual
focus systems are in the same situation almost as OM partisans except that OM
has better system compatibility throughout the line.
