The reputation that I have... It is one very good looking lens,

Tried that. I'm thinking video tripod/head would be about
perfect. Need lots of mass to control the vibration. I believe
the Bogen lens support would be a huge improvement over a
heavier-duty tripod/head, though.
I did one picture where I placed a pillow on the hood of my Jeep
and cradled the lens/camera in that. It worked better than the
tripod, but was too heavy to carry. <g>
