Final report. Rather than risk damaging the DOF lever, I put a piece of
small clear plastic tubing over the end of it. Although a fairly secure
fit already, I secured it with a dab of superglue. With help from Mark
and a couple hours fooling around with the mechanism, I have beautiful,
fully functional 85/2 MC with one small cosmetic flaw for $165 including
shipping!
