This seems reasonable. I too have some undergrad and graduate training in
statistics, and I know that everyone's opinion here, mine included, as to the
value (or otherwise!) of various lenses boils down to simple storytelling -- I
don't have enough samples of each lens to talk about overall quality. So far,
I think I've been lucky in that I don't seem to own any bad lenses, and I'm
always surprised when others pan a lens that I own and like.
