: Hans, how is the quality of this combination? 0.6x doesn't sound that much
: compared to the 0.4x-0.5x magnifiaction without the converter.
It's a difference of a covered subject area of 6x4cm (with 1.4x) vs. 8x5.5cm
(w/o the converter). Indeed not spectacular. Why not directly put the 2xA in
between? This gives an area of about 4.5x3cm (0.8x).
Image quality? Haven't shot any images with either combination, but the
image in the viewfinder is still sharp from center to corner, there's no
visible distortion and the tripod ring is still in good balance, so I would
be hopefull. Next step of course is putting *both* the 2xA and the 1.4xA in
between. This gives 3x2cm, magnification 1.2x, and still a relatively large
working distance. Insects will love it.
