Tried the poor man's version after reading this thread - 135/2.8, 25mm Auto
tube and Kiron 1.5X converter. Tried both ways.
With the tube between the converter and the lens (as recommended) - a ratio
of approx 1:2 at a distance of 4ft (closest focus).
With the converter between the tube and the body (that is, body, tube,
coverter, lens) a ratio of about 1:3 at approx. 6ft.
Thus, separating the converter and lens with a 25mm tube seems the best
option all round for macro work. Bad news - the nearest you'll get to
infinity is a ratio of 1:3 at 8ft or so.
