Well, after all our discussions re: eB*y and being careful, I just received a
Tokina AT-X 24-40/2.8 zoom lens for the OM which upon initial inspection was
fine, but which I discovered has a couple of problems:
1. My OM-4 will *not* fire with this lens mounted. It appears to be due to the
aperture-coupling lever -- man, is it *stiff*! Feels like it's been loaded
with a garage-door spring. I can get it to fire on my OM-2s and OM-1n. I
don't remember any other AT-X I owned having aperture-coupling levers as stiff
as this one.
2. There is a 1 mm long by 1/4 mm wide impact gouge on the rear element. Yep,
it's an impact gouge, alright. Checked it with a 10x loupe. Hit something
sharp and hard at some point.
** HEAVY SIGH **
To be honest, I violated my own rules bidding on this one, and I got caught.
Well, guess I'd best get writing that *honest* description of it, and get ready
to take the proverbial bath on it -- shoulda known better than to stray from
true Zuikos. :-)
