I wouldn't think so. The charging circuit in the laptop should be
designed for NiMh. Li Ion require a constant current charge which
swithches to constant voltage when the cell is fully charged, or is it the
other way round - whatever, the requirement is precise.
If Li Ion batteries are not charged correctly they can explode and/or
catch fire.
